South Pacific - with music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein, was written in 1949 based on James A. Micheners Pulitzer prize-winning novel Tales of the South Pacific.
The musical weaves together characters and elements from several of its stories into a single plot line. The issue of racial prejudice was sensitively and candidly explored. Its songs include 'Some Enchanted Evening', 'I'm In Love With A Wonderful Guy' and 'Bali Hai'.
